PrJSC “Rivneazot” completed modernization of non-concentrated nitric acid shop

PrJSC “Rivneazot”, a member of Group DF nitrogen line of business, completed a major overhaul of unit No.8 in the non-concentrated nitric acid shop.

 

The capacity of the unit is 120,000 t per year. Modernization will improve the operational stability and reliability of the unit. Modernization allowed to improve the quality of the air-ammonia mixture filtration from mechanical impurities and oil, as well as to enhance the cooling process and equipment efficiency.

 

PrJSC “Rivneazot” has eight units to produce non-concentrated nitric acid. At present, only six of them are in operation. The installed capacity of each unit is 120,000 t of non-concentrated nitric acid per year. Non-concentrated nitric acid is used to acidify metals, produce fertilizers, organic dyes, as well as to produce sulfuric acid using the nitration process and cellulose varnishes. Nitric acid is used as an oxidizing agent in many chemical processes.

“The purpose of the modernization is to fulfill the production program for the stable supply of the enterprise with the nitric acid. Nitric acid output affects the production of the main product, which is the mineral fertilizers for agriculture. A series of upgrades will allow the stable and reliable operations of our company in the future. To this end, scheduled major overhauls are extremely important and necessary. After all, the enterprise has to work as a single organism and all its production facilities are interconnected,” says Mykhaylo Zabluda, Chairman of the Board, PrJSC “Rivneazot”.

In 2020, capital investments in the modernization of the enterprise exceeded UAH 84.6 million. The key investment project involved the replacement of the absorbent in the converted (reformed) gas purification system at AM-2 ammonia shop, which allowed to increase the output of the final product.

 

As a reminder, according to the 2020 performance, PrJSC “Rivneazot”, a member of Group DF nitrogen line of business, reached the output of 1.81 million t including 47,165 t of aqueous ammonia technical, 567,615 t of ammonium nitrate, 7,418 t of ammonium nitrate (melt), 214,732 t of CAN (calcium ammonium nitrate). The company also produced 379,438 t of ammonia technical, 588,9 t of non-concentrated nitric acid, 145,2 t of nitrogen liquid.
