Nika-Terra seaport handled 4.3 million tons of cargo in 8 months of 2021

In 8 months 2021, Nika-Terra seaport, a member of Group DF, transshipped 4,300,000 t of cargo and handled 285 vessels.

“The last month of the summer became quite productive for Nika-Tera seaport. In August, the seaport showed the best performance since the beginning of the year, having transshipped 887,000 tons. The seaport handled a record-breaking number of trucks (11,854 units) and 8,334 railway cars, – commented Alim Agakishiev, CEO, Nika-Tera seaport. — Facing fierce competition for cargo traffic, we strive to diversify the portfolio of our services as much as possible. Last month, the range of cargo handled by our seaport expanded to 14 positions.”

In August 2021, the seaport increased the total cargo turnover by 19% compared to 2020 yoy and transshipped a record-breaking number of 58 vessels.

 

Earlier, it was reported that Dmytro Firtash’s Group DF invested more than UAH1.5 billion to develop the seaport. The group has been building a new generation seaport, focusing on the implementation of advanced technological solutions that comply with international standards.

 

As a part of the Program designed to increase the seaport throughput capacity, a new weighing facility was built, the number of quays was increased to 8 with the total length of 1900 m; the fleet of locomotives was brought up to 10 engines, the length of own railways has been increased up to 23 km, the new equipment for transshipment of cargo was purchased.

 

In 2020, the seaport handled 409 vessels and transshipped 7,380,000 t of cargoes. Within the cargo mix, the cereals, leguminous crops and oil seeds accounted for 5,550,000 t or 75% of the total throughput, bulk cargo – 1,270,000 t (18%), liquid bulk cargo – 323,000 t (4%), mineral fertilizers – 215,000 t or (3%).
