In november, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) shipped 288 tons of oxygen to hospitals free of charge


During the first 2 weeks of November, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy), a member of Group DF nitrogen holding, produced and delivered 288 t of medical oxygen to hospitals in 9 regions free of charge. The company ships 17 – 20 t of oxygen in tanks daily.

 

The geography of supplies has expanded; now medical oxygen is delivered to hospitals in Cherkasy, Sumy, Kyiv, Vinnytsya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn, Ternopil, Mykolaiv and Zhytomyr regions.

“Oxygen consumption per patient in the country has grown significantly. The plant uses its resources to the maximum and has significantly increased shipments of medical oxygen. At the moment, we meet all the requests coming to us from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine”, – said Vitalii Sklyarov, Chairman of the Board, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy).

Sklyarov stressed that Cherkasy region is a top priority for the enterprise; the region received 70% of all medical oxygen produced. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) supplied medical oxygen to 8 health care institutions in Cherkasy region: Cherkasy Regional Hospital, Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine of Cherkasy Regional Council, Cherkasy Municipal Maternity Hospital, the Third Municipal Emergency Hospital, Drabovskaya Multidisciplinary Hospital, Zolotonosha Regional Multidisciplinary Hospital, Horodyshche Medical Association.

 

According to Sklyarov, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) has shipped a total of more than 800 t of medical oxygen since September, when the last wave of COVID-19 pandemic broke out.

“In terms of medical oxygen supply, we work closely with the regional authorities and the local hospitals. We are talking not only about the supply of medical oxygen, but also the maintenance of their own oxygen systems. On our side, we have totally worked out the entire supply chain. There is zero tolerance for failure; every extra ton of medical oxygen we produce saves lives. We stay in touch with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the mayor of Cherkasy and the head of Cherkasy Regional State Administration. The enterprise has a social function to perform. And we deliver.” – said Sklyarov.

According to Cherkasy Regional State Administration, in Cherkasy region there are 5 health care institutions of the “first wave” and 5 health care institutions of the “second wave”, where they attend to COVID-19 patients. A total of 1960 beds have been deployed in the region, of which, 1804 beds (92%) are provided with medical oxygen. The total bed occupancy rate is 55.4%.

 

Along with PJSC “Rivneazot” and PrJSC “Severodonetsk Azot Association”, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) is a member of Ostchem holding that consolidates Dmytro Firtash’s chemical enterprises. During the first two weeks of November, Ostchem enterprises supplied 350 t of medical oxygen to 10 regions of Ukraine free of charge. Since the beginning of the year, the Group’s enterprises supplied a total of 1,500 t of medical oxygen. Medical grade oxygen is supplied in tanks or cylinders.

 

As a reminder, since April 2020, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) has allocated UAH1.2 million as an assistance to Cherkasy to overcome the pandemic, becoming one of the key participants in the specially created charity fund “Cherkasy against COVID-19”. In particular, the fund financed the procurement of BLIZAR artificial lung ventilator for Cherkasy infectious disease hospital and protective gear. PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) completed the assembly and installation of a liquid oxygen gasifier at the Third Municipal Hospital (Cherkasy) that was required to restore the operations of the centralized oxygen supply system.
