Group DF and World Economic Forum to present Scenarios for Ukraine

WEFGroup DF is co-sponsoring the Scenarios for Ukraine project, a joint initiative of the World Economic Forum (WEF), major Ukrainian businesses, and the Ukrainian government.

As part of this project, on November 5-6 Kyiv will host a summit of the World Economic Forum titled Strategic Dialogue on the Future of Ukraine where the leading representatives of political and business communities from Ukraine and from around the world will discuss possible economic scenarios for the future of Ukraine.

The goal of the summit is to engage the world’s leading experts, government and business leaders, and international organizations in discussing the pressing challenges facing Ukraine. It will be attended by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, and heads of the various ministries and agencies.

“Group DF is one of the largest investors in the Ukrainian economy, and understanding possible scenarios of the country’s development is extremely important to us,” explained Group DF Chief Executive Officer Boris Krasnyansky. “Equally important to us is the international positioning of Ukraine, because the way this country is perceived in the world affects the ability of Ukrainian businesses to operate in foreign markets. That’s why we have decided to support this important project, given the fact that the World Economic Forum is one of the leading and most respected global platforms for this sort of discussions.”

Boris Krasnyansky underlined that the prospects for the economic development of Ukraine will largely depend on the situation in those foreign markets where the Ukrainian exporters are traditionally present, as well as on availability of energy resources. “Group DF is a strategic investor in the Ukrainian industrial sector, and our goal is to make Ukraine one of the leading players on the global mineral fertilizers and titanium markets. However, how quickly and efficiently we can implement our plans will largely depend on external factors. That’s why we look forward to discussing all those scenarios in course of the Kyiv summit,” explained the CEO of Group DF.

Scenarios for Ukraine resulted from the work of the Global Agenda Council on Ukraine, a special working group of the World Economic Forum set up in 2012 at the initiative of the Ukrainian President. The Council brings together representatives of Ukrainian and international businesses, including Group DF, as well as government officials, and the world’s leading political and economic experts.

The outcomes of discussions at the WEF Strategic Dialogue on the Future of Ukraine summit will lay the basis for a detailed Scenarios for Ukraine report, which will be presented by the leading WEF experts during the upcoming Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos in the end of January 2014, to be also attended by the Ukrainian President.
