- EMFESZ, the First Hungarian Natural Gas and Energy Trading and Service Provider Ltd., was founded in 2003 to develop a major gas and energy business in Hungary following the liberalisation of the country’s energy market with the passing of the Hungarian Gas Act in that year
- The Company is licensed by the Hungarian Energy Office
- EMFESZ has successfully expanded since and its gas sales have reached some 2.3 billion cubic meters of gas in 2006 with a turnover of $779 million
- The Company has a long-term, 10 year contract with RosUkrEnergo, a Swiss gas distribution company, for the supply of gas from Central Asia to Hungary
- It expanded its operations to gas supply in Poland in November 2005
- It has recently completed a feasibility study to construct a new power plant in the eastern part of Hungary at the cost of circa 400 billion forint ($2.05 billion)
- EMFESZ is headquartered in Budapest and its management team is led by Managing Director, Istvan Goczi
